Speaker: John Dodd.
Lecture Theatre. London Transport Museum Acton Depot.
Wednesday 09 May 2018. 14.00 hours.
We welcome John Dodd, one of our ‘Friends’, who has a special interest in London Transport’s historical maps of trains, trams and buses throughout the years.
John took an interest in London buses and trains from an early age and he was especially fascinated by the maps of these services. After retiring from a forty year career in the software industry, he signed up as a volunteer with the London Transport Museum, where he now delivers tours and catalogues LT publicity. This encouraged him to work on a book describing the maps of London’s transport systems covering the period 1900 to 1950 which was published in late 2016. John’s book is called “Maps of London’s Transport. Design Variety in the first half of the Twentieth Century”.
The London Transport Museum Friends’ Sales Stall will be open before the event from 13.00 hours and after the event for Friends to browse and also purchase from the extensive range of transport related items.
There are only 60 places available for this fascinating talk and presentation, so please book early to hopefully save disappointment to the Friends’ General Secretary, Susan Gilbert. You must book on line or phone Susan. If you wish to book more than one place, please do not book on the web-site, but instead e-mail your request direct to Susan Gilbert, at Susan.Gilbert@ltmuseum.co.uk or telephone on 020 7565 7296.
If you have booked, but then find you cannot attend, please email Susan at the address or by phone to let her know and enable the place to be released to others.
